Inspired To Walk for Those Who Can't ....Until we have no Reason to Walk"

Eulah Varty was once again our Oldest Female to Complete the Walk in just 9:53:22.
To Joan Hieta: and all the other great people that were so nice on the Great walk, your volunteers were terrific, you managed to control the weather, for a perfect day for our adventure, its such fun to arrive at a stop and people are cheering for you, I keep wondering how they can be so nice for so many hours. My old friend, Barbara Veitch, of nearly 60 years, at the finish line to greet me as a volunteer, how much better can it get than that!
I hope that you can have more interest in this walk, for next year, for myself can't find many people that are interested in doing this sort of thing at our ages, guess they don't know how to enjoy themselves.
Thank you once again.
Sincerely; Eulah.

I took a lot of pictures during the walk, got every aid station except #3, some one mentioned coffee and all other thoughts left my brain.
Check out her pictures.
I'm still being teased that I couldn't possibly have done the walk because
a) I'm able to walk
b) I can bend over
c) I didn't moan once today at work.
Thanks for an awesome experience Kristie

Thank you very much for organizing such a successful event, you guys obviously know what you are doing.
This was my first Great Lake Walk and hopefully not my last. I can hardly walk today (Good excuse to laze around).
The volunteer participation was out of this world, the chap that sang the National Anthem, the rest stop people, the person that had to go around at the end and collect all the 'Slow - walkers on road' signs after the event - you were all fantastic.
Maybe the signs could be bigger next year (some of the drivers on the road that were not part of the event were totally irresponsible, including the driver of the West Coast Trail bus - the big green one that must have been doing 40km/h when it passed about 10 of us!!
The weather for the event was perfect - thanks for arranging this.
Good work everyone
Pat yourselves on the back

"The awesome experience I had on the Great Lake Walk was a life-time experience, without a doubt, and the mountain climb was a journey of past memories as I plodded on, often in silence. I take pride in walking for the Transition House and Women In Need - Hugs.. NoniB "

All the reststops were fabulous but the crew at #5 Rocked our Run!!!

Thank you so much for an amazing time! We had so much fun!! Everyone in town during the two days before the race, everyone at the stations along the way and everyone doing massages and bandaging were absolutely fabulous. You should all be so proud of your event and your
community.

I just wanted to touch base and congratulate you and the huge number of volunteers that put on the 2008 Great Lake Walk. We had a great time. From the evening before all the way to the events and support at the finish line, what an incredible feat. The stations along the way were
stocked with great treats and wonderful and energetic people. I doubt that we were the only people that gained weight on the walk. Good luck in 2009.
All the best. Ray Sibbald

As usual another wonderful event. Thank you so much. This is my second time around - I decided to go again just to receive another beautiful print by M. Davidson. I might go again next year depending on the picture.
Ha Ha!

My sister Emily and I had such a fun first time doing the walk, the stations, volunteers, porta-potties were all greatly appreciated. Loved looking at the pictures posted in the walkers comments section, brings it all back. I keep saying " I remember that". She missed getting one of the 3 guys at the side of the road with their lawn chairs and 24 pack of Kokanee, cheering us on. We were so thirsty when we saw that, it was torture not to pull up a seat. The day after the walk my sister e-mailed me to see how my feet were. She also said, NEVER AGAIN! But I'll work on her.
Thanks again to everyone, Leah Pawluk

Congratulations to all who have made the Great Lake Walk an amazing event! Since 2003 our charity has benefitted by collecting a total of $4500.00 for the Canadian MPS Society through the Great Lake Walks. MPS is a rare, debilitating and progressive condition caused by genetically inherited enzyme deficiencies. There is currently no cure although recent research is beginning to develop some treatments.
My grandson, now 13, is inflicted with this condition and fortunately is now receiving weekly treatments at Vancouver Childrens Hospital. In 2003 I approached a family friend, Floyd Augustine, about walking for this cause. He & a group of his walking friends took up the challenge!
Over the years Brooke Hodson has faithfully continued walking for our MPS kids. Although he perhaps has not mentioned his contribution, it has been much appreciated by our society. This year we collected $917.00 in pledges!

I was a newbie on the walk this year and had a life-altering experience. It was so awesome to be outside at 05:00 singing our national anthem with so many other crazy people! The support and good will encountered along the way was fabulous.
Please let me know as soon as the registration forms come out for the 2009 walk. I can't wait! I hope to bring more crazy people with me!
