Here’s a salute to those who went in the Great Lake Walk
For those of us who haven’t gone in the Great Lake Walk, the main question is why. Regardless of what the rest of us may think, it’s still pretty impressive to see all those people walk and run the 56 kilometres around Cowichan Lake from Youbou to Lake Cowichan. They all have their reasons for doing it, from wanting to raise money for a worthy charity to just simply finding out if they can handle the physical and psychological challenge. Some don’t make it all the way, but they are still winners because they tried. Besides, it’s probably not wise to go farther than you are capable of. There are several people who have gone in the Great Lake Walk, completed it and then never physically been the same. We salute those who gave it a shot, regardless whether they finished or not.
